As you may know, The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence is an annual international campaign that begins on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and goes until December 10, Human Rights Day. This campaign started in 1991 to call out and speak up on gender-based violence, and to renew our commitment to ending violence against women, girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ individuals.
To support this important cause, we will be holding a holiday food drive over the course of the 16 days of Activism ( November 25th – December 10) to provide our clients in crisis situations with emergency food provisions for themselves and their families this holiday season.
What You Can Do!
FGWRC is currently in the process of looking for businesses in the area who would be willing to help us:
- Be a hub to collect nonperishable (non expired) food items starting November 25th
- Promote this important cause
- Drop off all items collected to our 1150-A Waverley Street location on December 11th.
FGWRC can provide any signage you may need. Our staff will also be available to help unload and promote your amazing contribution on our socials with a photo op!
Can we count on you for your support? Thank you so much for your consideration to help the women, children, and gender diverse people in our community. For more information: events@fgwrc.ca
