A Simple Tool for Self-Soothing ![]()
The Butterfly Hug is a gentle technique often used to reduce stress, promote grounding, and support emotional regulation. It’s widely used in trauma recovery, and it’s something you can do anytime, anywhere.
How to do it:
• Cross your arms over your chest, like butterfly wings.
• Gently tap your shoulders—left, right, left, right—at your own pace.
• Breathe deeply and slowly as you focus on the rhythm.
A special thank-you to Lisa Glendinning from Art of EMDR Therapy for introducing this powerful technique in our recent Tapping In session.
